What light’s up Sarah about this work is finding solutions and short cuts to make work move effectively and smoother. She loves to find ways to make daily work move more automatically so that work time is freed up for more important tasks instead of the daily mundane work.
What sets Sarah apart from other Virtual Assistants is she has almost a decade in experience in the construction trades and has dealt with MSHA filings, lien waivers, Department of Labor apprenticeships along with AIA billings, sales tax, and payroll reporting.
Moving Towards Construction Accounting
Sarah’s path to becoming an Accountant began at an early age. She always loved working with numbers and money and actually went to school to get a secondary teaching degree to teach students about money management.
Once she was in college, she realized that schools were not interested in teaching money management and that her accounting classes were her favorites. She changed her major in the first few months of college and was one of 13 that graduated in her accounting program out of hundreds that started that Freshman journey with her.
She has worked in multiple industries over the years from janitorial cleaning to newspaper advertising to land in mechanical construction doing everything from payables, receivables, regulatory reporting, and payroll.
Three fun facts about Sarah that might surprise you:
- She has a wide taste in music, from country to heavy metal to bagpipes….which she wants to learn to play.
- She has taught kids gold panning at South Pass Gold Rush Days for over a decade.
- She lives in a living ghost town in Wyoming.
Learning and Training
Sarah graduated from Alma College with a degree of Business with an Accounting emphasis and has spent the last few decades working as a private accountant while learning and growing her skills in the very businesses.
She has also acted as treasurer for a number of non-profit groups from cub scouts to a community group providing community activities for local kids.
